This deciduous tree grows well in a variety of conditions, making it well-suited for enhancing aesthetics in many yards. Vibrant Colors Of The Pink Crepe Myrtle Its long-lasting blooms cover most of the surface area of the leafy branches, which can grow up to 15 feet in diameter, making this colorful tree a focal point in the yard. The flowers' colors range from baby rose to fuchsia, carnation, hot, and other rosy shades. In addition, the slightly rounded leaves are deep green, and the bark has a pinkish-gray hue. The bark is generally smooth and mottled, which adds to its fascinating look. Enhance Pollination With TN Nursery Many types of plants rely on pollinating insects and birds. The flowers on this tree have a strong fragrance. In addition, the bark emits sap, and these two elements combine to attract up to 30 pollinator species to the yard. Pollinators are beneficial insects and birds that have a solid impact on the overall health of your yard’s small ecosystem. Diminished Pests With This Shrub  Many of the birds and insects that are drawn to these trees are beneficial in other ways. For example, these bugs and birds often feast on the various damaging pests in a yard. By managing the population of unwanted pests, your plants can enjoy an overall healthier environment. More Privacy Is Available Many homes are built close to each other, allowing direct views from the windows and porches of one house to those of another. This lack of privacy erodes the comfortable living experience in the home. Crepe Myrtle trees often grow up to 20 feet tall and have dense, bushy branches. When the tree is in full bloom, it may be impossible to see through the flowers and branches. Because the tree grows well above the height of a privacy fence, privacy reaches a new level.

Sensitive Fern

Sensitive Fern

The sensitive fern is a hardy, deciduous plant with finely dissected fronds that curl up when touched or exposed to frost. This makes it a unique and interesting addition to damp woodland gardens. This fern is a beloved plant that gets its name due to its sensitive nature, preferring certain environments that are mostly warm and humid. But despite its name, it's one that you shouldn't overlook if you live in a region that it can grow in. Let's take a look at why this perennial plant is a must-have for your landscape.  Sensitive Fern is Stunning in Greater Numbers This plant looks good on its own, but it produces a lush, green, thick spectacle that easily adds something more to any space when you plant multiple of these perennials together. The lobed leaves blend together and reach up and out at a maximum height of about two feet. If you want to add some volume and life to spaces that need it most, consider adding several of these plants to your landscape. They may even spread naturally with time. This Fern Acts As a Home for Wildlife These plants grow in areas where wildlife flourishes, which means that they play an important role in the ecosystem. Speaking of its more practical uses, small animals like frogs and salamanders will use the leaves of this plant to take cover and escape from the heat. If you're looking for plants that are friends with and attractors of wildlife, this one will be an excellent fit for your space. Wildlife Feed On It But Won't Eradicate Your Plants This plant also serves as a source for animals and insects, so you won't have to worry about the wildlife population in your area decimating your plants before you're able to enjoy them. It is both deer—and rabbit-resistant, with larger animals only taking a few of the leaves or avoiding them entirely. This ensures that your plants still contribute positively to the environment but aren't at risk of being wiped out by animals. TN Nursery Offers This Stunning Border Plant Where more common plants are unable to grow, groundcover like this plant is the perfect solution. Adding height and color to more moist and humid areas of your property, these perennials take root and help your property look less bare, supporting the areas in your yard that need it most.

The Shrub's Leaf Appearances They have alternate, compound leaves that consist of three to five leaflets apiece. The leaflets can be either lance-shaped or egg-shaped and extend to a length of two to three inches. Each leaflet begins to taper toward the end. Side leaflets are narrower and smaller than the rest. All leaflets on the upper surface of the plant have a dark green hue. Upon close inspection, you'll notice that the leaflets along the upper surface are slightly hairy. The hair is more densely matted along the lower surface. A leaf stalk measures between 2 and 2.5 inches long. Additional Features The twigs on them are smooth and flexible. They initially appear white during the first year of growth. However, they change colors with the season. During the warm summer months, the canes have a bluish-green hue. Once the winter arrives, they turn purple. When the temperatures are low, the canes may even turn a yellowish green. Older canes appear more trunk-like and have a somewhat smooth bark. They are reddish purple with a white coating. The wood itself is white and soft. The flowers that grow from these plants show up from April to June. They grow in close clusters that consist of three to seven flowers. As for the petals, they are usually white and narrow. Raspberries can start to grow in late June and July. They are small and firm fruits with a strong aroma. Most raspberries have a globe shape alongside a flat base. Once fully grown, each raspberry is around 1/2-inch wide. Buy At TN Nursery Today The plants contain small blue-black berries with tiny seeds. They are native to North America. The fresh season falls in the first few weeks of July. Sycamore Tree

Sycamore Tree

The majestic Sycamore tree, known scientifically as Platanus occidentalis, is an iconic and awe-inspiring presence in the natural landscape of North America. Standing as a testament to the time and enduring through the seasons, the trees symbolize resilience, grandeur, and natural beauty. Add Year-Round Interest to Your Yard TN Nursery A sycamore tree can add year-round interest to your yard in several ways. The distinctive bark of sycamore trees peels off in sections, exposing a multi-hued pattern of brown, green, and white. No matter the season, this bark feature never fails to turn heads. These trees have an interesting winter activity: they make seed balls. These globular clusters adorn the tree's barren branches with visual appeal and textural variety. Their tall, pyramidal crowns change to rounded, irregular shapes supported by a network of branches with vast diameters as they get older. Create Picturesque Silhouettes Against the Sky With Sycamore Tree These trees are perfect for making dramatic skyline silhouettes because of their distinctive branching structure and tall, upright growth habit. Their branches arch upward and outward, creating a unique and complex pattern that catches the eye as it meets the horizon. These lace-like silhouettes become even more artistic and dramatic during the winter after the leaves drop. Design Majestic Canopies and Structure With The Tree Because of their erect, pyramidal crowns when young and their rounded, uneven forms as they grow, these trees are good choices for creating natural canopies. They have a lot of branches with a big diameter; however, if the lowest branches are too close to the ground, the plant may seem unruly and ugly. By removing unnecessary branches from lower branches, you can stimulate the tree to grow upward rather than outward. Enjoy Color-Changing Leaves Throughout the Year In the autumn, the breakdown of chlorophyll causes a chemical reaction that causes the leaves on these trees to undergo a color shift. In response to the changing light and temperature patterns, the leaves cease photosynthesis. This reduces or halts the production of chlorophyll, which makes the green hue fade and exposes other hues. As autumn approaches, the leaves' yellow carotenoids come into view, imparting their vibrant hues. In addition to color-changing leaves, these plants bloom colorful, small, spherical clusters of flowers in April and May. Some variants don't bloom flowers until their sixth to seventh year of growth. The male and female flowers are usually yellow or red in color.

Red Weigelia

Red Weigelia

Red weigelia is a deciduous ornamental plant known for its profusion of tubular, dark-scarlet to pinkish-scarlet flowers that attract pollinators and add a splash of color to garden landscapes. It is a versatile and attractive shrub commonly used in landscaping to enhance the aesthetic appeal of outdoor spaces. With its stunning trumpet-shaped flowers and unique foliage, this plant brings several benefits to landscaping projects. Red Weigelia is one of a number of attractive cultivars that were developed after the importation of the flowers to England from Japan in 1845. Scarlet is only one of the colors present in this array of cultivars, and others include pink, purple, or even orange. But the crimson version is among the prettiest, especially when combined with the finely tapered and slightly serrated leaves. They Have Tons Of Flowers The flowers, although not broad or showy, still make a lasting impact because of the purity of their color and the fineness of their shape. The delicateness of their 2-inch length belies their incredible hardiness, often blooming from the last frost until the first frost, dominating the space below the 12-inch line in the garden. These fantastic flowers don't just look good, either. These trumpet-shaped blooms smell like sweet citrus, filling the air with a delightful aroma that attracts human visitors to your garden as well as pollinators. The Leaves Of Shrub They're about 4 or 5 inches long, slender, and finely tapered. They form an eye-pleasing green bed that accentuates the marvelous blooms all throughout the spring and summer into fall. The petioles are short, which allows the leaves to overlap one another for a splendid layered effect. In the bright sunshine, especially on dewy mornings, the light will reflect off of the flowers, which will then lend their hue to the leaves. This creates a fine multicolored effect. Red Weigelia Is Great for a Tiered Presentation Because this shrub and its flowers grow only to about a foot in height, taller plants of the same or similar colors can be planted behind them. That's what creates the tiered look. These flowers look absolutely smashing, surrounding a focal point in a garden, such as an imposing tree. Combining them with an epiphytic plant of the same color that climbs the trunk creates a quirky and beautiful botanical palette. TN Nursery Loves To Save Pollinators These flowers are important for pollinators like hummingbirds and bees. Having species in the garden that attract different species of pollinators is crucial for the success of both the garden and the environment as a whole. The leaves are also a necessary part of the life cycle of certain butterflies, which adds to the plant's beneficial environmental impact.

Blue Cohosh

Fern-like leaves exhibit a captivating bluish-green color, providing an intriguing contrast to other plants in the landscape. As the summer progresses, the plant produces beautiful blueberries, adding a splash of vibrant color and attracting wildlife, further enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the garden. It is a versatile and beneficial plant incorporated into landscaping designs. Its unique characteristics and ecological advantages make it an attractive addition to gardens and natural areas. Blue cohosh is a perennial plant that is also known as Caulophyllum thalictroides, and it is most commonly found in the wild, growing in the woodlands in the northern region of the Appalachian Mountains. However, it has been seen from South Carolina to New Brunswick. This plant immediately stands out from other vegetation with its beauty and is well-suited for shaded areas of your yard or garden. What are the exciting benefits that this plant introduces to your yard? The Dramatic Color Of Blue Cohosh As the plant sprouts, it shoots up a bluish stalk, which eventually can grow as tall as two feet at maturity. From the stalk, the panicles branch off and display lovely leaves and small, yellowish-green flowers. These star-shaped flowers usually bloom between April and May. The flowers then produce small seeds. These blue-colored seeds show up in late summer and fall in early autumn, adding to the many colors that the plant introduces to your yard. Often, shady and moist areas of a yard are void of vegetation. These spaces become eyesores and turn into a mucky mess on wet days. This plant, however, thrives in shady areas with moist soil. With its incredible coloring, the plant brings a natural element with lovely pops of color to these otherwise dismal areas of the yard. The Fascinating Foliage Of The Perennial As the new stalks emerge from the ground, the leaves grow and unfurl. These leaves have a deep green hue with a bluish tint, making them stand apart from other vegetation in your garden or yard. The lacy leaves dangle loosely and are spread relatively far apart. Some people find that the leaves fluttering in the wind are mesmerizing. Attract Wildlife With The Beautiful Plant While some animals avoid this type of plant, others are attracted to it. Specifically, birds often nibble on the blue seeds, which are essential for dispersing the seeds. Some smaller mammals are also drawn to the seeds. In addition, the flowers attract bees, damselbugs, and other insects. These promote the overall health of the environment as they are important pollinators. Buy At TN Nursery

Catalpa Tree

Catalpa Tree

Catalpa Tree is a deciduous hardwood known for its large, heart-shaped leaves, showy clusters of white, trumpet-shaped flowers, and long, bean-like seed pods. It is also known for its unique appearance, ease of care, and environmental benefits. A Catalpa Tree is a member of the deciduous family, which means that it's similar to oak or other tall and thick trees. Growing this type of product has many benefits, such as helping to stabilize soil and prevent erosion caused by excess moisture. An Overview of the Catalpa Tree  This type of natural product can grow to be up to 60 feet in height, which makes it one of the taller types that you can place in a given landscape. It can produce showy flowers that are white or yellow in color, and it can also produce branches that are up to 12 feet around. They do develop a fruit that is akin to an acorn that will drop during the late summer months. The Tree Can Grow Quickly Another key benefit is that it can grow relatively quickly and replenish its leaves rather quickly. This is beneficial as it will likely become a habitat for birds, caterpillars, and other creatures that might use it to hide from predators or start a colony. The ability to quickly replenish its leaves is a key defense against getting sick, as it can be vulnerable to various insects that try to eat them or otherwise use them. The sphinx moth caterpillar is often used for bait, and it tends to be among the species that feed primarily on the leaves. Therefore, you may be able to use this natural resource to help with your fishing in addition to making your property look good. However, it's important to carefully watch for signs of an infestation and take corrective measures to avoid losing a valuable resource. The Tree Flowers Have a Pleasant Aroma Having this natural resource on your property can help to cleanse the outdoor air. This is partially because it can absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants. The flowers also create a favorable fragrance that you and your neighbors will enjoy for as long as they are on your property. The Catalpa Tree has delicate pinkish-white blossoms. The fruit emerges in the form of an elongated cylindrical pod. Because of its cigar-shaped fruit, it is also called a cigar tree. What Does It Look Like? They can reach 60 feet high and 40 feet wide. They can live for 60 years or more. They grow rapidly at first, but as they get older, the growth spurt levels out. They have a rounded crown and spreading branches. The overall effect is that of a dense business. They are highly adaptable and will happily grow almost anywhere. The fruit produced by them is 8 to 15 inches long, and it turns brown as it matures. The seeds are released when the pods break open in fall and winter. They typically produce white, bell-shaped blossoms with ruffled and fringed edges. They bloom in early spring. The pods that contain the fruit seeds have a few white strands of hair at each end. They take between five and seven years before they begin to display flowers and seed pods every year. On the other hand, produce blossoms and seed pods during the first two years of maturity. The pods are typically a few centimeters wide and up to 30 centimeters long, with the flat seeds contained inside. Pine trees, also known as Pinus, are a family of conifers that includes at least 121 species. They're typically located in the Northern Hemisphere, and they can be as small as 10 feet or as large as 268 feet. Pine Trees Bark and Cones For the most part, they have a scaly, thick bark. The branches are extremely tight spirals, which are often referred to as 'pseudo whorls.' These whorls typically grow one set of branches per year. The cones, meanwhile, provide the tree's source of reproduction. Both genders appear on each of these evergreens, and this offers a unique appearance. The cones are often collected by cone hunters, and they've been displayed in any number of baskets over the years. The Tree Has Foliage/Needles The needles of these conifers can be sharp, but they're yet another thing that offers a visual feast for wildlife lovers. Interestingly, more mature ones do not typically have any needles. Instead, they only stick around for up to 40 years. While they're still there, though, they feed butterflies and moths. The seed leaves come in a whorl of four to 24. Not only do these help distribute additional evergreens, but they also offer a food source to squirrels and a wide array of birds. Height and Life Expectancy of Them Although the extreme height range is listed above, the majority of them can grow to approximately 50-150 feet tall. Even more impressive, though, is their expected lifespan. Most will live anywhere from 100 to 1,000 years. However, the oldest known ones are around 4,800 years old! They offer a plethora of positive attributes that make them an excellent addition to any landscaping design. These charming deciduous trees are native to the southeastern United States and thrive in wetland areas, making them perfect for aqua gardens, pond edges, and other moist environments. Water Willow, also known as Dianthera americana, are aquatic herbaceous plants. In other words, this particular plant is typically found partially submerged in flowing or still aquas. They offer a nice splash of color and visual interest to their surroundings and can be quite eye-catching. Water Willow Has Stunning Flowers This plant produces white and purple flowers in small clusters. When fully grown, each flower is approximately 1/2 inch. They grow out of stalks that come from their foliage and usually remain in bloom from May through October. This plant attracts bees and even offers them a prominent guideline for pollination purposes! Therefore, if you're looking to help the world's bee population, putting some on a man-made lake is a great idea. The Aquatic Plant Has Exotic Leaves Once the slender rhizomes have been planted, American Willows will begin to grow and thrive. In time, they can even spread out into large colonies that take up approximately 1,000 square feet. Of course, this flowering plant is also suitable for your yard's built-in aqua features as it won't grow bigger than its area. The leaves themselves are simple and can grow up to six inches long. Additionally, they're bright green and go into a point at the tip. Meanwhile, the stems grow between 1.6 and 3.3 feet high and are also bright green. The Fruit Of The Perennial Small brown capsules serve as this plant's fruit. A variety of different animals are attracted by them, and they're used to help keep this species alive and well. As long as they end up near a river, lake, or stream, more will be born! TN Nursery Has Many Different Aquatic Plants One of the best things about this attractive plant is the fact that it will bring in a lot of wildlife. In the wild, you can expect to see muskrats and beavers dining on the rhizomes. The leaves are usually eaten by deer, and bees enjoy the pollen. A variety of other insects will also be fed by this plant. Instead of stopping there, though, it also makes a fantastic habitat for amphibians, fish, and assorted aquatic invertebrates.

Loblolly Pine Seedlings

Loblolly Pine Seedlings

Loblolly Pine Seedlings are commonly used for reforestation and timber production due to their rapid growth and adaptability to a variety of soil and climate conditions. They offer several valuable benefits when incorporated into landscaping projects. Their rapid growth, adaptability, contributions to the environment, and potential for creating appealing landscapes make them a popular choice for various outdoor settings. The Loblolly pine is a versatile and quality tree that can live for several decades under ideal conditions. They propagate through seeds, which means that the easiest way to include this conifer within your landscape is to buy them from us. What Do Loblolly Pine Seedlings Look Like When Grown This type of tree can grow to about 110 feet in height and roughly five feet in diameter. However, there are varieties of this tree that can grow much taller or fail to grow beyond 20 or 30 feet. The tree will create cones that are anywhere from three to six inches and contain seeds that are released during the fall or winter months. The cones will remain on the tree for a year or two before falling off themselves. As with any other type of conifer, it has needles that fall off regularly so that new ones can be grown. How The Seedlings Can Help Your Landscape There are a couple of main benefits to planting them on your property. First, it will start to create a root system almost as soon as it makes its way into the ground. As this happens, the roots can start to stabilize the soil and prevent erosion because the land will be anchored by something. In addition, the tree can grow about two feet per year, which means that the root system will grow with it rather quickly. What Are They Used For You can use this type of conifer as a privacy shield for your property, thanks to its rapid growth. It can also be used as a border for your garden or to line any part of your property that you think needs some color or the fragrance that these trees typically provide. Wildlife Will Appreciate Them It will grow into a tree that is used by everything from eagles to woodpeckers and deer. Squirrels and other smaller creatures may also find the trees attractive, which means that you'll have an abundance of wildlife to look at while on the deck or looking out the kitchen window. What Else You Should Know About Them The seeds themselves are easy to plant and don't take too much maintenance after they are put in the ground. However, they can be susceptible to pest damage as they sprout and grow. Therefore, you'll want to make sure that you take proper precautions to keep your seedlings healthy. Growing Season For Zone 8

As a gardener, you're in a great spot to enjoy a lush garden thanks to the long growing season in your area. This zone has blazing hot summers, cool autumns, and fairly mild winters compared to many other zones.

At its coldest -- the metric that determines hardiness zones -- this zone's temperatures reach 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. The growing season for this zone usually spans from April to December. There's plenty of time to plant, nurture, and enjoy the abundance of your garden before the first frost. With some smart planning, most gardeners in this zone can easily maintain a garden year-round.

Vividly-Colored Plants, Trees, and Shrubs

Living and gardening in this particular zone, you can grow beautiful bright flowers, shrubs, and trees that thrive in warm and mild climates. Some of our favorites here at TN Nursery are:

Stella De Oro Daylilies

These bell-shaped golden-yellow blooms provide a showy display and attract butterflies to your garden. Blooms last just a day, but the plant flowers for months, generally starting in May and lasting through December (or first frost).

Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are flowering shrubs with giant blooms. The most popular types of hydrangeas have a chameleon-like ability. You can actually change their color. Acidic soil produces breathtaking blue blooms, while alkaline soil gives you soft pink or lavender shades.

Celandine Poppy

True to its name, the Celandine Poppy provides a great pop of bright yellow color. Its unique blue-green leaves add visual interest to your garden even when the flowers aren't in bloom.

Crepe Myrtle

Crepe Myrtle is a perfect match for this unique zone. The trees love the warmth of the Southern US, and they aren't picky about where they're planted. We recommend Natchez crepe myrtle, with thick clumps of bright white flowers, and Muskogee crepe myrtle, with vivid purple blooms.
