Plants Perfect For Zone 7
Are you looking for the perfect plant growing well in Zone 7? If the answer is yes, read about a few beautiful plants that will increase in this particular zone.
Bloodroot
The bloodroot plant is a perennial that is more than just a pretty flower. This perennial produces a bright red juice that was once used as war paint by native Indians, but it is still used to dye clothes and stain certain furniture types. This particular plant is perfect for areas that could use ground cover. It will increase, even when it is planted in shady areas. The Bloodroot plant will bloom during the spring months with large, white flowers that resemble a mixture of a daisy and buttercup. Since the leaves are a vibrant green, the flowers stand out firmly. This is the perfect plant for gardeners who wish to attract butterflies and bees.
Bird's Foot Violet
This Zone 7 plant isn't just pretty; it is also edible. As an herb, Bird's Foot Violet is often used to thicken soups and as an herbal remedy. This plant can be an essential oil for colds, coughs, and headaches. However, many gardeners use it to deter insects in their gardens. Once the roots have taken hold in the soil, bugs are deterred from the area. Bird's Foot Violet blooms in two different colors. It grows well in areas with a lot of shade, as too much sun can kill it quickly. It will also grow well in places where other plants will die, such as rocky soil and dry patches of dirt.
Shasta Daisy
Who doesn't love the simple yet beautiful daisy flower? The daisy is a flowering perennial that will work well for ground cover and as a preferred garden plant. The Shasta daisy looks very close to what we see along the road, except for the more prominent blooms. They can clump in large groups ranging from 1 to 2 feet wide and 2 to 3 feet tall. The Shasta daisy is low maintenance and will self-seed. While they will grow in most conditions, this perennial will do better in full-sun conditions and well-drained soil. This flower is often turned into an herb to be used for fevers, liver disorders, and various aches and pains.
Foam Flower
The Foam Flower is often used as a ground cover as it spreads quickly. The plant's blossoms turn white with a slight pinkish tinge when it blooms, usually in May. The leaves then clump together to form different patterns and shapes. Foam flowers will do well if planted in well-drained soils and tolerate partial and complete shade. They let off a sweet fragrance that will attract birds and small animals. They can also be used as essential oil. The leaves are often used as a diuretic, and the crushed foliage has been used to treat wounds.
