Recipe for Blackberry Shortcake
2-1/2 cups Original Bisquick mix
2/3 cup milk
Grated peel of 1 lemon
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons sugar (or decorating sugar)
1 pint (12 oz) of fresh blackberries
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
Whipped cream for garnish
How to prepare
First, heat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Second, stir the Bisquick mix, your three tablespoons of sugar, lemon peel, and butter until soft dough forms from the mixture.
Third, get a no greased pan, drop six spoons full of dough, then sprinkle some sugar on top using the two tablespoons.
Forth bake until golden brown, which should take at least 10-12 minutes.
Fifth, as the dough bakes, you will need to take a 1-quart saucepan and then mix some sugar and water. Next, put them on the stove medium until it becomes a water solution. Don’t forget to stir, take it off the stove, and add blackberries. You will need to stir the mixture.
Six cut shortcakes in half and fill with blackberries and then put tops on, dab on some whipped cream, and don’t forget about the extra blackberries.
