Gardening in wet soil is tricky as not many plants and trees can thrive in such conditions.

There are a few trees that can tolerate moist soil provided that it is not waterlogged all the time.

Areas in the garden or yard that have poor drainage are often problematic, but there are a few trees that do not mind getting their feet wet.

It is crucial to plant the trees in an area that is free from severe waterlogging. If drainage is a problem, then you might have to use alternative methods to control flooding. Heavy clay soil can be improved by adding organic matter so that the soil retains less moisture.

Empress Tree—Empress Tree is also known as Paulownia tomentosa, and it is a deciduous tree native to China. Black Gum—It is also known as Tupelo or Nyssa sylvatica. It can grow 70 feet tall and does well in neutral or acidic soil. It can be used as a shade tree or specimen in the yard. The foliage changes color in autumn season and wears red or purple hues.

American Arborvitae— Also known as Thuja occidentalis and it is an evergreen tree that belongs to the cypress family. It has beautiful fan- like branches that have scaly leaves.
