The Grape Vines Plant (Vitis vinifera) is the most common grape sold in grocery stores and is native to central Asia and Europe. It is a woody deciduous vine and has large, lush green leaves. The fruits, flowers and even the leaves of this plant are all edible. The fruit can either be eaten directly, or made into a fruit concentrate or wine. And the leaves can be used to make dolmas.

This grape prefers full sun and must be planted in a protected area where it can remain sheltered from winter frost and strong winds. However, the plant needs good air circulation, so it is highly recommended that you take time and consideration when choosing the planting location.
Hot and humid climate regions, like the southeast of the USA, can negatively impact fruit production. If planting in these regions, make sure that the plants are maintained in a lower-moisture area. If you would like time to build a trellis or work out a garden location for your plant, purchase the Grape Vine 3-4'. However, if you already have a support system, purchasing the Grape Vines (Fruit Bearing Age) stage will lead to a sooner harvest.
