How big do Jane Magnolia trees get?

Jane Magnolia trees typically reach 10 to 15 feet tall with about the same spread, making them ideal for smaller yards or garden spaces. They grow into a beautiful, rounded shape with stunning spring blooms. With minimal care, they stay compact and elegant year after year.

Where is the best place to plant a Jane Magnolia?

The best place to plant a Jane Magnolia is in a sunny or lightly shaded area with well-drained, rich soil. It does very good in a spot protected from strong winds and late frosts. With the right location, it will bloom beautifully and grow effortlessly.

Do Jane Magnolias like sun or shade?

Jane Magnolias grow best in full sun to partial shade. They need at least four to six hours of sunlight daily for vibrant blooms. A little afternoon shade helps protect their blossoms and keeps the tree healthy.

What makes the Jane Magnolia flowering tree unique?

It blooms with large, fragrant flowers before the leaves appear, offering a striking contrast of colors and a sweet aroma for your garden.

Are these trees suitable for small garden spaces?

Yes, pink magnolias can be planted as a specimen tree or near patios and driveways, adding color and fragrance without taking up too much space.

How To Grow

How to Grow and Care for Bare Root Trees

Bare root trees are shipped dormant without soil, making them lightweight, cost-effective, and easy to plant during the cool months of early spring or fall. To begin, soak the roots in a bucket of water for 4–6 hours before planting to rehydrate them. Choose a sunny location with well-draining soil and ample space for the tree’s mature size.

Dig a hole twice as wide as the spread of the roots and deep enough to keep the root flare (where the roots begin to spread from the trunk) at or slightly above ground level. Create a small mound of soil in the center of the hole, spread the roots evenly over it, backfill with native soil, and gently tamp down to remove air pockets. Water thoroughly after planting.

Keep the soil consistently moist (not soggy) during the first growing season, and apply mulch around the base—avoiding direct contact with the trunk—to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. Stake the tree if necessary, and prune only to remove dead or damaged branches. With proper care, your bare root tree will establish quickly and grow strong for years to come.

Care Tips
Magnolia Jane Trees thrive in well-drained soil and benefit from regular watering, especially during dry periods. They should be pruned in late winter, mulch around the base for root protection, and fertilized in early spring for optimal growth.
Light Requirements
The Magnolia Jane Tree thrives best in full sun to partial shade. It favors at least 4-6 hours of natural sunlight daily to ensure robust growth and vibrant blooms. Flowering may be reduced in shadier conditions.
