White Crepe Myrtle Tree is One of the World's Most Extending Blooming Trees
What makes the crepe myrtle a popular shrub is that when they bloom, they bloom for between 60-120 days, making it one of the world's most extended blooming trees. A person can extend the red, pink, white, and purple blooming by doing what is referred to as deadheading. This is where the dead blossoms are removed from the tree. This can lead to a second or even a third round of blooming.
Crepe myrtle shrubs make a decorative border or even a privacy hedge. One of the great things about this shrub is that it does well in tight spaces, so it would also be great for being used within tight spaces. It is a high shrub that would look amazing when greeting your company as they are driving onto your property. Another one of the great things about the crepe myrtle is that, besides being a shrub that blooms for an extended period, it is also a hardy and highly disease-resistant plant. People will also find that it is a fast grower. The crepe myrtle can grow several feet within a single growing season.
The one thing that people need to keep in mind with the crepe myrtle is that this shrub should not be over-fertilized. Over-fertilizing this plant will lead to fresh foliage and fewer flowers.
Hardy Zones
The crepe myrtle is the type of plant that does excellently within the hardy zones seven and nine. Crepe myrtles are plants that love the warmer climates, but they might not be the best hedge for the colder climates.
Soil Requirements
When it comes to the soil requirements for the crepe myrtle, the thing that a person has to keep in mind is that a soil pH should be between 5.0 and 6.5 for the best results.
When To Plant
Knowing when to plant is essential if a person wants the best results with their crepe myrtle. An individual should plant their crepe myrtle four weeks before the first frost in the fall of the year. When watering this plant, it is best to use a hose and not a sprinkler.
The white crepe myrtle Plants will reach a maximum mature height of around 20 to 30 feet.
This is a large shrub when it reaches its mature height. However, there are different varieties of crepe myrtle, and an individual can get a plant of smaller height if they desire. Choosing a type that does not require as much pruning ensures that an individual gets the best results if they are new to shrubs.
