Pink Fountain Weeping Cherry Tree Seeds (20)
The pink fountain weeping cherry tree is an excellent ornamental tree that is highly unusual. This tree puts on beautiful blooms in the spring, and its fully loaded branches often swoop down to touch the ground.
The pink fountain weeping cherry tree can be grown in zones four to nine. While much of Florida and Deep South Texas gets too hot for this tree to thrive, gardeners who want to raise it in colder climates have another choice. In zones one through three, you can grow it in a pot and bring it inside before the first frost arrives.
When mature, these trees usually stand between 20-and-30-feet tall. This tree, however, does very well with regular pruning, so you can grow a tree under 5-feet tall if you desire by cutting off upward-facing shoots.
If left alone, these trees will be as wide as they are tall when mature. It is not unusual to see a weeping cherry tree that is between 25-and-30-feet wide.
This tree does best in slightly acidic soils. Be very careful to choose a spot that drains well because this tree does not do well with wet feet. In most cases, you will want to mix some perlite in with the soil to help the soil drain properly when you plant this tree.
In addition to providing well-drained soil, this tree also needs a wind block if the wind blows strongly in your area. Additionally, it may need to be staked to add stability when the tree is young.
This tree blooms in beautiful pink flowers in mid-spring. You can expect this part of the colorful display to last for about three weeks. These blooms that appear translucent are followed by small inedible black fruit. Then, the tree will put on glossy green leaves that will last until fall when they turn a gorgeous yellow.
The beautiful pink fountain weeping cherry tree is a lovely specimen tree that will leave your whole neighborhood in awe. Its beautiful fountain-shape looks like it is shooting streams of water throughout the year, even when it is not blooming in mid-spring. If you have a smaller yard, this may be the perfect tree for you as it will not grow taller than 30 feet, and you can prune it to be much shorter. Once established, this tree will thrive in most environments if it does not get too wet.
