As Arrowwood Viburnum grows and spread, it will look like a waterfall with beautiful white blooms. This fantastic shrub does excellent in various soils. It makes a lovely ornamental shrub for all gardens and lawns. The Arrowood Viburnum is a plant best known for having a look for every season. Easy to grow, hardy, and adaptable, the viburnum dentatum is a common sight throughout the Eastern United States, stretching its territory from Maine to Florida, and into states as far as Iowa and Texas. In the spring, it starts with dark green leaves, topped by contrasting bright white clusters of flowers. Summer brings with it the growth of small dark blue-black colored berries. Though edible, the fruit has little flesh and a large seed, and is not comparable in flavor or use and is mainly considered ornamental. During fall, the leaves shift to bright yellows, reds, and purples before dropping them in the cold of winter. Arrowwood Viburnum grows up to a full 15 feet high, and with a comparably sized spread, the Arrowood Viburnum is easy to notice and appreciate in any season.

Arrow Wood Viburnum (scientific name: Virbunum Dentatum) is part of the honeysuckle family. A deciduous shrub, it grows upright to an average of 6-10 feet, with a similar spread. The shrub produces clusters of white flowers in spring, complemented by blueberries in fall. The berries attract birds and are not harmful to humans, although they have relatively little edible flesh, while the flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators. The shrub's berries are especially vibrant against the plant's yellow-to-red autumn leaves. Its leaves contrast well with evergreen ferns in the fall, and its flowers nicely set off irises or other plants with upright bulbs in the spring.

Native along the Eastern Coast of the United States and Canada, Arrow Wood Viburnum Shrubs are hardy and versatile and grow well in a variety of conditions in USDA zones 2 to 8. For best results, plant in a location with morning sun and moist soil. However, shrubs can be planted in shade, partial sun, or full sun, and will tolerate many different types of soil. This hardiness means Arrow Wood Viburnum shrubs are a good choice for gardeners of any skill level. Annual pruning is recommended. The best time to prune is after the shrub has flowered, but be sure not to remove the branches with flowers so that fruits can mature.
