Amazing Vines and Groundcovers for your Garden

Using vines to create a unique garden and decorate other areas on the lawn is a great way to bring color and wildlife to the area.

A wide variety of vines are tremendous, will have gorgeous blooms, and will be very easy to care for.

Vines are a great way to add a significant plant to areas and will be affordable.

English Ivy is a very stately-looking vine when it has grown. It is a lovely vine that will give the area lots of brilliant green color and is often used to cover the upsides of small and large buildings. They will develop and include an ugly building that looks natural when covered.

There are also some beautiful, beautiful flowering vines available. Blue Wisteria, Morning Glory, and Trumpet Honeysuckle are great to use in the garden to grow on a trellis, patio, or even on the fence. All vines can be trained to grow wherever they grow, are very easy to care for, and will not take much work.

The Honeysuckle vines are great because they will also be beautiful and have a wonderful sweet fragrance when in bloom. The flowering vines will attract small wildlife, such as bees and hummingbirds, which will love to feast on the nectar their flowers supply.

Many vines go great when used for ground covers and multiply to cover a bare area on the lawn or garden. TN Nursery has an excellent supply of all types of vines to purchase and will also give excellent descriptions and information on each vine so a homeowner can find the perfect vine for their projects.

How do you choose what your vines should climb on?

Some options are wood; others are metal. Some are lightweight, others heavy.

If the trellis or arch is purely for ornamental purposes, then choose the type based on your most important criteria, whether budget, beauty, or design.

However, if it's to be functional, that is, it needs to support a vine, then that should be the primary selection criteria. Like many morning glories, vines that will die back in the winter are excellent at lower cost or with less sturdy architecture.

Vines that will continue growing year after year, however, and develop woody stems call for something fairly sturdy. And, those that produce woody stems and put on weight with heavy flowers like wisteria or fruit like grapes need a very sturdy place to grow and climb. These last two can pull apart a less sturdy trellis or arch, so it is best to plan for a few years. Regardless of your budget or which vines you grow, they add height and a sense of drama to your landscaping. Wisteria, a fragrant woody vine, is available in our mail-order nursery.
