Received the plants in very good condition. They were sealed very well in a bag. Upon talking them out of the bag, I noticed the plants still had some spent blooms on them. I immediately planted them the day they came. They been watered as well. I can't wait to see how they grow.

Phlox paniculata is another known name for giant leaf phlox. It is an exciting species with noticeably hairy foliage, grows approximately 2 ft tall, and is relatively immune to powdery mildew. This is a perennial plant that makes an excellent flower garden. Its lovely blue and white flowers help do a great job settling into mixed types of flowerbeds. This plant is a superb choice for borders and shrubberies. In addition, it is a perfect houseplant and prefers to be indoor during its flowering period but afterward does pretty well outdoors.
Giant leaf phlox grows in moderately fertile, medium moisture, and well-drained soil in full sun to light shade. It prefers rich, moist, organic soils to maintain its pH as it grows well in less acidic nature. It requires good air circulation to help with the potential problems of powdery mildew. Plus, it enjoys mulch to keep the root zone cool in summers. It is intolerant to drought seasons and needs to be watered around dry spells.
Phlox paniculata is native from New York to Iowa, South of Georgia, Mississippi, and Arkansas. It fled from its native gardens and naturalized into areas beyond its original native range. It is mainly found south of the Missouri River in moist or rich low woods, alluvial banks, and Bruff bases along the streams. It grows in the form of clumps on wide, stiff stems, conspicuously veined, opposite pointed, elliptic green leaves and fragrant florets.

Giant leaf phlox does not require much attention and is a perfect plant for new gardeners. It is a low-growing perennial that can bring years of enjoyment, and its large leaves and showy lavender-pink flowers can bloom from late spring to early fall with a lasting effect. It has characteristic importance to the hummingbirds and is a good selection for inclusion in the bird gardens.
Phlox can perk up a languishing midsummer landscape. They can be used in mass plantings, pollinator patches, containers, cut flower gardens, cottage gardens, and meadow gardens to add a punch of color. Small plants can also be purchased that are already producing buds, but if the live plants are inaccessible, then the dried leaves of the phlox can be used to make sachets or tea. It would help if you did not forget that it is a great attraction to bees because of its scent. Another valuable tip: when the plants have grown for about 2-3 weeks, thin them out to 8-10 inches for faster growth and sturdiness.
