In the middle of the yard there is a great tree and the great tree is alive and standing there for that reason and‚ as I say‚ for all that it is a tree‚ whatever else a tree may be‚ it is a collection of things that are not like and do not resemble anything but nevertheless are alive and standing there for that reason․ Every gnarled limb‚ every supple leaf speaks of the seasons which have nurtured them‚ the cycles of birth to death‚ to birth again․ I watch this tree as I walk past its twisted arms and sedate foliage‚ and I know that this tree is one of those chains that link us all‚ the base of all․ To us‚ this tree is not simply a decoration‚ but such a part of our lives and our family's history and memories․

The Benefits of Trees In Your Yard

Trees are an essential part of the world and are known as the lungs of the earth․ They take in carbon dioxide from the air and in return release the oxygen which we need for respiration․ We should think of them as nature's purifiers․ Day in‚ day out‚ trees are taking carbon dioxide out of the air‚ releasing oxygen back into the atmosphere‚ trawling dust‚ pollen and other particulate pollutants from the air․ They are purifying the air we breathe․ Additionally‚ trees have been shown to help combat climate change‚ by providing shade and reducing the urban heat island effect․ Year after year‚ I find myself more grateful for this tree and all the things that it has done and continues to do for the world around me․

In addition to cleaning the air and providing cooling shade‚ trees save water‚ prevent soil erosion and have roots that hold soil during severe weather conditions․ When there is rain‚ the trees help soil to remain intact and preserve structure of this delicate system‚ as it can absorb a large amount of water․ The rain water is kept in the tree during the rainy season and slowly leaked out into the ground during the dry season․ This helps other plants and animals that share its habitat‚ but it also helps to prevent some of the flooding that can occur during heavy rain․ To see a tree like this‚ and see it performing its role day after day‚ reminds us that we should plant and preserve trees in our yards‚ communities․

Wildlife In Your Yard

Another wonderful thing about having our tree is the animals and their little ecosystem that grows and lives with it․ When I sit under its huge‚ shady canopy‚ I can see the bird's nests in its branches and hear the birds singing from them as they flit to the next branch over․ I see squirrels running around‚ chasing each other from top to top‚ or rabbits in the brush not much farther away‚ playing their little games․ This tree houses nesting and breeding places for birds and other animals․ It supports the ecosystem in our neighborhood․ We hope that just by caring for the tree‚ we can contribute to the well-being of our community and local environment‚ and create a habitat for these creatures‚ which are struggling to survive in an increasingly urban environment․

When it comes to providing shade and comfort‚ nothing compares to the tree․ Our yard becomes a peaceful oasis of relaxation when we sit beneath the sprawling branches‚ enjoying meals‚ conversations‚ and togetherness‚ shielded from the scorching summer sun․ It seems to change the feeling of the air below it․ You feel as if you are in the best room of a house built by nature for entertainment․ Whether it is a dinner spread out on the ground‚ or a book read in silence‚ the tree seems to make it better․ There is something about those long‚ cool evenings‚ the sun almost completely down‚ that makes this tree seem to hang on to us‚ reluctant for us to leave the shade of its branches․

The Beauty Of having Trees In Your Yard

One of the loveliest things about nature is every spring the tree‚ as soon as the winter is over and the spring has come‚ bursts forth afresh with young shoots like green ribbons․ Through summer its foliage is countless green‚ a canopy formed by this amazing tree along with the finite blue of the sky; and in autumn it gives way to some of the most beautiful fall foliage․ The leaves are falling‚ and scattered over the ground are the battalions of gold and russet‚ the last napery of the dying year․ The green of the summer has given place to the pure white of the winter‚ and the skeleton boughs cut the blue of an icy day․ In each transition‚ we learn the lesson of impermanence‚ and find beauty in the process․

It is true that the tree standing tall in our yard‚ is the source of our joy․ The tree is a natural treasure and has contributed so much to us in developing our respect for nature by giving us air‚ shelter‚ coziness‚ and a ringside view of the wonder of nature's cycles depicted in every leaf․ This tree is a home for creatures․ It is a sign of the seasons‚ each with its own beauty․ It is a sign of the richness of life․ In nurturing and caring for this tree‚ we are also nurturing and caring for our relationship with nature and setting the stage for future generations to appreciate its benefits․ Truly‚ in our yard‚ we have a tree for life‚ a silent yet powerful guardian that improves our existence in countless ways․
