The Bamboo Plant 2-3' grows prolifically when planted in zones 9-11 of the USA. This plant is native to China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam, but has become an introduced and, at times, invasive species due to its rapid and aggressive growth habit. However, if you happen to live in a warmer region of the USA, this plant will survive and thrive outside. Culms, the stems of the bamboo, can grow up to 60 feet tall. Be mindful when planting outdoors, as they can take over areas and become incredibly hard to remove.

It makes a great privacy fence or musical instrument. While the young shoots of this plant are edible, they are considered to have poor taste and are not commonly consumed.
