Description

Golden Fern - Chamaecyparis obtusa

Golden Fern not a fern at all, but a low growing cypress with distinctive golden branches that closely resemble arching fern fronds. Each unique, flattened branch tapers to a point, just like a fern frond.  A great great choice as a low maintenance addition to a rock garden.

Chamaecyparis obtusa is native to Japan. Commonly called hinoki cypress or hinoki falsecypress, it is perfect for a small garden featuring beautiful, year round, pale gold foliage and a low growing, mounding habit. Colorful all year round, it tends to look best during winter - when you need it most.  Hinoki means fire tree in Japanese.

This plant prefers full sun and is is hardy is zones 5-10.
