Garden Grammar

Posted by Tammy Sons on

Where does the word garden come from? It first appeared in English in the 14th century as "gardin." That came from the French "jardin." In France today, a garden is still called "jardin."

That phrase may have possibly originally come from Germany before France, but it's not quite clear when. If you need a sweet purple flower in your garden, consider iris cristata. Perfect for small areas, it really adds a nice touch. Look for it in our mail order catalog.
