Water Oak Tree

The water oak tree is a fast-growing tree and can reproduce quickly. The tree can reproduce through wind pollination and the disbursement of its acorns. The water oak is mainly used to restore, and it does not compete well. It is used to restore bottomland because it can tolerate man soils as long as they are moist. It must have full sunlight to grow and adapt to any of its environments. The water oak blooms in early spring and then has green leaves all summer long. Later in the fall, the leaves change into many different colors like orange, red, and yellow. In the wintertime, it will lose its leaves until spring. The water oak also produces acorns. This tree is most prevalent in southern states where it is hot because it can provide a lot of shade for one area. The tree can withstand intense storms the endure wind. This tree provides food for squirrels, turkeys, and even white-tailed deer. The wood is not as much wanted for an oak tree because it is not as sturdy and durable as other oak trees.

The Hawthorne tree produces fragrant flowers in white, pink, or red, depending on the variety, and all produce berries used in recipes and herbal remedies. Most all varieties have thorns, except for some new hybrid varieties. Hawthorne trees are coveted for their use as living hedgerows in home landscapes because of their low growing heights, ease of pruning, and low maintenance—Hawthorne trees and shallow and narrow roots systems won't deplete the soil of nutrients. The tree can live for centuries and produce flowers twice a year under the right growing conditions. The shape of the red berries resembles small red apples and lends itself to the tree sometimes referred to as 'thornapple trees. The seeds ripen in the fall and are used for jams, jellies, and tea.

Silver Maple Tree

The silver maple is the most common of all maple tree varieties. Its fast-growing nature and thick foliage make it a prime choice for residential landscape shade. Broad, textured leaves of green tops and silver bottoms, combined with the tree's brilliant fall foliage display, also make it a popular choice for planting in home landscapes. The deciduous nature of the giant tree blocks hot summer while allowing the warm rays of winter sun to permeate the home landscape, which helps lower home energy usage and costs. This fast-growing maple tree grows well in soggy soil, nutrient-depleted soil, and other conditions in which most other trees refuse to grow. Silver maples are easily adaptable, thrive when transplanted, and can live well over 100 years. Silver maples produce tiny greenish-yellow flowers in the early spring, quickly eclipsed by newly sprouting leaves. The fall foliage color keeps in line with its spring floral display and turns a brilliant yellow in autumn. Silver maples produce solid and thick limbs which lend themselves well for children's swings and treehouses.

Soil

If the balance is too low to add lime to your soil, then buy one of the kits from your local store if the balance is too high to add sulfur to your ground.

Planting and Pruning

Plant your tomato plants firmly in the ground, don't worry about burying a few leaves as the plant grows to be sure to clip off any discolored leaves and try to remove any suckers on the plant. Suckers are found where a branch splits from the mainline in the "V" shape of most branches a sucker will form. Simply pinch it off. Keep all branches supported upward as your plant grows as high as ten feet.

Feeding and Watering

After initially planting, give your tomatoes a good soaking with compost tea. Compost tea is made by mixing compost with water stirring in the air, allowing it to ferment in the sun for about three days. Spread some Epsom salt to add magnesium to the base of the plant to help reduce end-blossom rot. Rotate the compost tea and Epsom salt every two weeks.

Pollination

You can aid in the pollination by shaking the stalk or taking a Q-tip and rubbing the stamens of the flowers.
