Strawberry Patch

Plant A Small Strawberry Patch

To plant a strawberry patch, you must first hunt down the exact kind of strawberry you want.

There are many different kinds, and each does different things. Some bloom and produce all season while others don't, and some require more water than others but produce more fruit. It's just a matter of deciphering through it all.

Then you must select an area to place your plants. This area should have full sun, well-drained soil, and PLENTY of room to grow. The place should be tilled and weeded of all plants; You should then add fertilizer to the soil mix.

The plants should be placed 2-3 feet away from each other and be well watered afterward. This plant's best fertilizer is cow manure, which is very healthy and not acidic. These plants send "runners" that sprout new plants and can quickly take over an entire area. So You must watch this plant once this plant has taken your patch. It will create an almost impenetrable canopy to stop weed growth.

The plants will produce fruit in the spring (with some variations) throughout the summer. These plants need to be fertilized in the spring and late summer. They do not need to be trimmed but must have old dead leaves removed from the plant to prevent suffocation of the new leaves.

These plants also need moderate amounts of water to help their plants grow significantly and increase fruit amounts.
