Sugar Maple Tree Details

Sugar Maple Trees Offer Vibrant Fall Foliage

The sugar maple is most prized for the brilliant color of its autumn foliage; the tree is generally considered one of the most colorful trees throughout the fall season due to the diversity of colors․ In autumn‚ the leaves of the trees change color from a deep green to the backdrop of golden yellow‚ orange‚ and red․ The reason for this color change is due to a chemical reaction that happens to the leaves as the days become shorter and it becomes colder․ The trees‚ dazzling in color‚ therefore are common subjects for paintings and photographs․ The maple‚ which loses its green pigment first‚ is one of the harbingers of a beautiful fall‚ and its bright leaves remind us that nature's beauty is fleeting and that changes in the seasons should be expected․

These Trees are Used to Make Sugar Maple Syrup

When the sugar maple tree touches the forest flora with its comely presence‚ it is not merely there in the activity of growth and development․ It is the highly-special sugar maple‚ Acer saccharum‚ the tree that is the mountain in forest trees and that‚ even so‚ brings the ambrosia of the forest․ Sugar maples can be used to produce maple syrup‚ thus earning them a place in the breakfast foods of many households․ However‚ sugar maples are more than a source of syrup․ They may symbolize peace‚ the seasons‚ and the beauty of nature․ They are also part of the ecosystem‚ and their presence adds much to the character of an area․ The trees are so attractive that they are favored by many gardeners and nature lovers․

An Ornamental Treasure Providing Beauty & Shade

In addition to their ornamental appeal‚ sugar maples can also be useful in other ways․ Their broad‚ rounded crowns provide ample shade‚ making them suitable for planting in parks‚ gardens‚ and residential yards․ These trees make a statement when planted as a focal point or along a walkway‚ and can be used as privacy screens when planted in groups․ The canopy of colorful foliage also provides a place of refuge from the heat of the summer sun․ They can be a foundational element in any yard through the seasons․ As garden trees‚ their continued merit lies in the way they change their character through the seasons: their new spring foliage is a paler yellow-green‚ their fall foliage is a riot of orange and other yellows‚ and they form an attractive outline of the skyline even in winter․

Sugar maple Tree support a wide variety of wildlife‚ including birds‚ squirrels‚ and insects

As a keystone species and a tree with many animal and insect species that depend on it‚ sugar maples are a common component of many ecosystems․ Sugar maple seeds are a food source for many birds and small mammals‚ and it is also used as a nest tree․ In the spring and summer‚ sugar maple trees are a food source for caterpillars and may also be used as feeding locations for several other species of insects․ Life is all around you‚ under the tree's canopy․ The leaves rustle in the wind‚ the birds sing their songs‚ and every other part of the ecosystem has come to life․ It is under the sugar maple that we come to realize how important these trees are to life․

The Fast Growing Trees Grow to Towering Heights

Not only are sugar maples beautiful trees‚ but they are also good trees in regard to the environment as they are very sturdy and grow in an upright style at 60 to 75 feet high․ They are also characterized by common‚ more-or-less upright branches that give dense shade․ Sugar maples do best in well-drained‚ open woods‚ but can tolerate a wide variety of conditions․ One of the more interesting characteristics of the tree is its long life․ The trees live for hundreds of years and are often landmarks and attractions for the area around them within following generations․ Gardeners and tree lovers in general appreciate the low maintenance of the sugar maple‚ which provides unlimited enjoyment through its beauty and utility․

In summary‚ sugar maple trees are a magnificent part of nature's work of art‚ part of a great web of life‚ and are a beautiful display of color that engages our senses‚ making us feel alive․ What I find most beautiful about these trees is that they do not simply serve a decorative purpose‚ but rather‚ they serve as food and habitat for organisms and create and maintain ecosystems․ And as syrup‚ shade‚ and splendor‚ sugar maples remind us of the seasons that come and go․ Planting a sugar maple tree is more than just planting a tree․ In addition to being an investment‚ to giving the earth the gift of its beauty‚ to watching the story of life unfold over the years: when you adopt a sugar maple tree you are not simply accepting a new tree; you are accepting a new chapter of life․

Maple Trees

The trees arrived in what seems to be a good packaging. We’ve planted them after soaking the bare roots. There was no instructions on how to plant them what what to do to care for them with the trees packaging. But after a quick Google search we found that information from a master gardener. “ I guess we have to wait for spring to know if they survived.” I really hope they have. These trees are to be my spot light trees in the spring summer and fall months for years to come. So I am really hoping they survive. The TN Nursery shipped them out in a very efficient manner and come spring I hope to tell the world that I made the right choice ! Fingers crossed!!!!

We were so happy to find this tree!

It arrived on time, nicely packaged, and presumably in fine shape (it was bare root but after two weeks, it’s beginning to grow leaf buds).
