The Wintergreen Boxwood 6-10" (Buxus sinica var. insularis) is a favorite for ornamental gardeners. This robust cultivar is native to the Korean peninsula and parts of northeastern China. ‘Korean Boxwood’ is another common name for this robust cultivar paying homage to the region in which it is native.
In Korea, it was cultivated to be extremely robust in cold climates. As such, its rich green foliage is maintained year-round, even in harsh winter conditions. If you are located in a northern region, this boxwood has been cultivated to be less prone to browning in the wintertime than other boxwoods.
