NOTE: Our plants ship as bare root plants, and are dug fresh to order during the dormant season.

What the Devil is That?

Have you ever been tempted to grow something just because it has an odd name? Or perhaps discouraged from growing it for the same reason?

Some plants live up to their interesting names and some odd names seem to have nothing to do with the plant itself. Does the devil's walking stick look like a devil's walking stick? What about mother's in law's tongue, the common houseplant?

Bushy beardgrass is one that looks like what it's called. Queen Anne's lace is another one, a pretty plant that is as delicate as its name suggests.Dutchman's breeches and monkey tail are two plants with playful names found in our mail order nursery.
