The Oldest Plant

What is the oldest plant on earth? It might just be a fern.

They've been around for at least a couple hundred million years. Strangely, they don't even reproduce with seeds. Unlike most other plants, they use spores.

From the dainty maidenhair fern to the aptly named leatherwood fern, there are about twenty thousand kinds of ferns. These plants love the shade, and while you may hate humidity, they thrive in it. You can find many ferns including the walking fern and the colorful Japanese painted fern here in our online plant nursery.
