According to experts, California is suffering its worst drought in over 500 years.
The drought has even prompted Governor Jerry Brown to issue this statement about the drought in his state recently:
"Today, we are standing on dry grass where there should be five feet of snow. This historic drought demands unprecedented action," Brown said.
"Therefore, I'm issuing an executive order mandating substantial water reductions across our state. As Californians, we must pull together and save water in every way possible."
That had to be devastating news for residents who have gardens to take care of. How do you manage to take care of your garden during a drought?
Droughts can kill plants and flowers, but even if it manages to survive, it can still weaken them and make them more open to insects and diseases.
Droughts can have a long-lasting impact on plant life forever. California may not ever entirely recover from this five-year drought that has devastated much of the state.
