Short Leaf Pine Seedlings

The Short leaf Pine, or also scientifically referred to as Pinus echinate makes a great seasonal addition to your garden, especially during the holiday season as you can utilize it for decoration in your yard and make it the attention piece for many years to come. If you like that fresh pine scent in the air then you will enjoy having that familiar smell at home. This fast-growing tree is covered in rough, irregular, vertical plated bark that is a dark brown and becomes more of a reddish tinted brown as it ages.In late March to late April, small oblong shaped pine cones emerge from the tree and may be a green or yellow to a reddish purple before developing to its usual light brown color when it ripens. When the tree grows into maturity, it produces an abundance of seeds that usually fall in late October to early November. The resin itself contains turpentine, which has been distilled and used many times in the past to create remedies for a variety of ailments such as the common cold and coughing. Its leaves are short needle-like clusters that display a rich green color and the tree provides a great shelter for birds and small animals to nest in.The Short leaf Pine once dominated the forest but now has lost more than 50% of its acreage. You can now help bring back this once common tree and give it a home in your garden.Short Leaf Pine Seedlings are great and once established they can grow to become very stately and strong trees. They also do well in dry and moist soil conditions.  These trees supply a beautiful green color all throughout the year.  They will have pine needles that will cover the tree and can grow to be around three inches long.  The trunks of these trees can grow to be up to three feet wide when fully grown.
