Red Maple Live Stakes - Acer rubrum

The Red Maple has regularly been seen as having distinct green to dark-green leaves during summer or warm months that are 2" to 6" in length with a soft texture on each leaf.  The leaves are sectioned into 3 or 5 with clefts that appear jagged in irregular patterns.  When looking at the bark of the Red Maple, it seems gray with refined small clefts into each strand that is scale-like in both appearance and texture. The Red Maple gets its name from the autumn months, changing the color of its leaves from green to bright red, like a fine red wine.  In the spring you will see tiny red flowers appear from buds as well as any new stems, appearing red as well. During a good rain in the fall, the leaves seem shiny and vibrant, brightening up even the gloomiest of days. It has been known to do very well in urban environments as well as rural environments with loose structured soil. Some wildlife may choose to feed on the fruits of the Red Maple and may house themselves within the branches as well. The canopy and leaf structure will appear round to oval in shape. Most commonly it has been native to the eastern and central parts of North America, ranging from southern parts of Canada all the way to Florida with eastern parts of Texas included.  While holding an exact red hue in almost every season of its growth, The Red Maple makes a truly unique and marvelous shade tree with many ornamental properties as well.
