Mint Plant is Pycnanthemum, which means "densely flowered," a characteristic allowing it to support many visitors at once. It is also considered a native plant of eastern North America from Maine to Michigan through Missouri and south to Florida. It is also present in Illinois and Texas.
The plants grow only in the very southeastern region of Missouri. It is present in grassy open regions, meadows, fields, low wooded areas, and often dry upland woodlands, but not in mountainous settings, as its traditional name implies.
The leaves are quite fragrant, with a distinct minty smell when mashed. The flowers come in various colors. There are white flowers to light purple, with occasional purple dots. The plant is also a fantastic choice for individuals interested in nourishing pollinators because of its extended bloom duration, which can last a month more than in July and August. Their light green foliage is quite attractive, making it a good choice for the landscape when it isn't flowering.
Rhizomes spread the true mints. The flower heads of the plant are fuzzy in appearance. It is a fragrant clump-forming annual plant that reaches 1-3 inches tall. When crushed, the dark green leaves of this thickly leafed mint family species emit a pungent mint-like (spearmint) smell. The leaflets are nearly sessile, oblong to oval-lanceolate, pointed, and deep green. They have round to heart-shaped bottoms and toothed margins on branched stalks.
There is a bloom of two-lipped pink flowers covering this plant's leaves in dense, flat terminal (occasionally axillary) groups during mid to late summer. A pair of unusual and spectacular silvery fringeless leaf-like bracts are near the cluster's base.
Whether present in pairs or massed, the silvery bracts create the impression that the whole planting is powdered with white powdery snowflakes. So many butterflies and insects sit on the beautiful flowers. They come to the flowers to drink their nectar. The leaves of these plants are also used to make tea.
The plant's overall appearance makes it highly likable for ornamental purposes and decorating houses on different occasions. Because of the short height of the plant, it adjusts itself in various shades and thrives in fully sunny locations. They are low-maintenance plants. This plant is drought tolerant, stress-tolerant, and tolerant to pests and diseases.
It is the favorite plant of the people because the smell of the flowers is good and fresh. They make excellent flowers for the garden.
