Moss lawn is the most common turfgrass alternatives that spread like a green ground cover, exhibiting a lush decorative carpet look and are supposed to be a living mulch, giving your landscape a more alluring look without prior maintenance and care. These tiny, rootless primitive plants that belong to bryophytes usually grow in humid regions out of spores, having an eco-friendly effect on the environment. With minimum water uptake and other nutrients, Mosses are quite a better replacement for traditional grass lawns.
These plants grow near rocks, cliffs, waterfalls, rotting logs, and other moist shady areas, enhancing the growth of nearby plants at the same time. The certain soil conditions where they viably grow include low soil PH of approximately 5.5 means acidic soil compared to grass weeds that need relatively higher PH to grow. The other prominent factor is the moist and compacted soil surface having a balance of light and water for better growth and propagation. All the types are adaptable to wide ranges of temperatures. The most common species of mosses is peats that cover over 11 square feet at a depth of 2 inches for a cubic foot of compressed peats.
The range of expansion varies with the alteration in cubic feet. Atric Udalatum, a well-known plant species, has a high tolerance for foot traffic and facilitates a consistent height prolonging a translucent green look. Many are vulnerable to air pollution like lichens. They prefer to grow in bare ground supported by damp and shady regions accompanied by the removal of grass, weeds, sort of debris, and fallen leaves with a leaf blower. However, the plantation of clump mosses seems efficient for ultimate growth other than generic ways.
Sphagnum contains a higher content of moisture and provides a water source upon squeezing either. Traditional uses include animal bedding, dried moss as a firestarter, moss on trees as a compass to find directions. It helps to mitigate the risk of soil erosion. Moreover, it has great applications for eating and drinking purposes. Spanish moss promotes milk production in lactating mothers and reduces the signs of epilepsy and diabetes.

I have this installed in my frontyard and turned out a bit mushy during the previous extreme cold season. However I am trying to establish a mini garden at the back part of my house to try how would it turn out while springtime is coming. A bit excited here.
