Are bees truly busy?
Certainly honey bees are. A hive flies 55,000 miles to make a single pound of honey.
First, they must visit 2,000,000 flowers! Each individual bee, though, only produces 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its entire life!
Bees are attracted to various flowers for different reasons. They favor blue lobelia for it's many close together flowers. With all the exercise they get, that's no wonder. Check out this pretty blue perennial in our plant nursery.
