The Language Of Landscapes

Though an artist looks at the natural landscape to create a landscape painting, it looks like the words actually went the other way around. The Dutch word "landschap" meant "region" or "tract of land."

Still, though, when it came into use in English in the late 1500's it was used primarily artistically. It took over 30 years for it to first be used to describe an actual vista in the natural landscape. If you have some gaps in your landscaping, try our tree and shrub landscaping package.
