Dicentra Plants 5 For $14.99 Description

Dicentra Plants

Dicentra Plant gets its name from the underground food storage structures that resemble corn kernels that the plant has in abundance. It is a clump-forming, tuberous perennial that forms a beautiful clump of lacy, smooth blue-green finely cut leaves that adopt the appearance of a crown.

It has tiny pinkish-white heart-shaped flowers that occasionally display a tint of pastel lavender. The blossoms dangle like porcelain earrings over the foliage, creating a beautiful contrast. The tubers' base sprouts exquisite compound foliage and little flower stalks, later following a cluster of flowers. These flowers have a faint scent.

The tremulous two-lobed blossoms are similar in appearance if you compare them to the blooms of Bleeding heart, also called Lamprocapnos spectabilis, and Dutchman's breeches, also called Dicentra cucullaria, which are close relative to the plant. There are numerous purposes for which you can use the Squirrel Corn plant. You can use it as a diuretic or tonic. This species is also helpful in the treatment of Syphilis and Scrofula infection. You can further use it to treat women who are experiencing menstrual issues.

Dicentra Plants  can be utilized as an edging and ground cover in landscaping

It is a temporary spring plant that thrives and is at its greenest in the spring, then becomes dormant in the remaining seasons. This plant is also native to Eastern and Central North America. Squirrel Corn plants may reach heights of 8 to 12 feet and widths of 20 cm to 30 cm. It thrives when you cultivate it in loam-rich, consistently moist soil that is neither too acidic nor too alkaline, well-drained soil. Although squirrel corn prefers well-drained soil, you should not let it dry out entirely in the spring and maintain optimal moisture.

The preferred lighting conditions are dappled sunlight to moderate shade.

This plant has a fair value to faunal wildlife. Mostly, queen bumblebees are responsible for pollinating the flowers. In exchange for flowers, you can receive nectar and pollen. Most people grow it for the blossoms, which, while only being an inch across, are numerous enough to put on an incredible show when you grow them in large enough numbers.

It is possible to grow Squirrel Corn as an ornamental plant in the garden. It is a popular choice for gardeners because it is a low-maintenance plant that can thrive in shady areas.
