Coniferous Forests

Posted by Tammy Sons on Feb 01 , 2016

A forest is a forest, right? Not really. There are many different kinds of forests around the world.

The type of trees that grow in them depends on the local climate, rainfall, temperature and even the type of soil.

Coniferous forests tend to be in colder, windier areas of the globe. Conifers are adapted to withstand long winters.

Strangely, the makeup of trees in that situation is similar to those who must regularly withstand droughts. We have several conifers in our tree nursery. Consider the Virginia Pine, more commonly known as the Christmas tree.
