Blue Eyed Grass

Blue Eyed Grass works great in natural areas.  It also makes a beautiful ground cover.  It thrives in full sun and does well in moist and well-drained soils.  They can also do good in lightly shaded areas.  Can also adapt to other various soils.  It blooms in May and June and has blue flowers at the ends of the blades of grass.  Is called Sisrinchium Angustifolium.  It is found growing a lot in the Southeastern part of the United States. Blue Eyed Grass wildflowers are an excellent addition to any garden. You may have also heard of them as Star Grass, due to there shape when in bloom. These small flowers are great for adding a touch of brightness to any landscape. Despite the name, Blue Eyed Grass is in fact not grass but instead a clump of slender light blue flowers. It will do well in any garden soil, and is a resilient flower. Although the flower has grass like leaves it is part of the iris family, and can grow up to sixteen inches. In addition to it being a great looking flower, it is a great way to introduce native plant life to your garden. In full bloom the flower has a gold center and six symmetrical blue petals that reach out for sunlight. You can fill a lot of space with these and make your garden look fuller.The flowers grow in nice, dense clumps easy to plant or move.
