Banana bread is a simple treat you can use for a snack, breakfast, or a delicious dessert.

INGREDIENTS

1 ¼ cups sugar

1/4cup unsweetened applesauce

1/4cup margarine that is softened

1/2 cup fat-free cholesterol free egg product

1 1/2cups mashed very ripe bananas 3 to 4 medium

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 ½ cups Gold Medal all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1teaspoon salt

1 cup chopped nuts if wanted

DIRECTIONS

FIRST-1 Move the oven rack to a low position so that the tops of pans will be in the center of the oven. Then you will need to heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then you will need to grease the pan bottoms only two loaf pans that are 8 1/2x4 1/2x2 1/2 inches, or one loaf pan, 9x5x3 inches.

SECOND-now mix in some applesauce and margarine in a large bowl. Then stir in egg product until nicely blended; Now add bananas, buttermilk, and vanilla. Now beat until smooth. Next, stir in flour, baking soda, and salt just until moistened. Now stir in nuts if wanted. Now pour into pans.

THIRD- now bake 8-inch loaves for about 1 hour or until done 9-inch loaf about 1 1/4 hours, or until toothpick in the center comes out clean. Now cool for at least 10 minutes. Now loosen the sides of loaves from the pans. Now remove from pans and place top side up on wire rack. Now cool completely about 1 hour before slicing. Now wrap tightly and store at room temperature for at least four days, or refrigerate at least ten days.
