Wild Yam plants are a very bright almost yellowish color when grown. These plants are often used in large containers for porches or patios and grow great in gardens and natural areas. They can thrive to be as long as fifteen feet and do best when planted in full and partially shaded areas. They thrive in moist and soils that offer medium moisture and in climates five through nine. They normally bloom during the months of June through July and can also be called Dioscorea Villosa. They can be found growing around swamps, rivers, lakes and creeks where they receive lots of moisture in the soils.
