Trees Mentioned In the Bible
If you are planning to create a Biblical Garden in your yard then you can grow many amazing trees that have been mentioned in the Bible. Biblical Gardening is becoming quite popular these days and people are growing plants, trees and shrubs that have been cited in the Holy Scriptures.
Some such wonderful trees that you can consider growing in your home garden are-
Pine Trees- Pine trees have many different varieties and they are beautiful evergreen trees that are ideal for screening and hedging. They are also commonly used as Christmas tree in many households. Some common Pine varieties include Spruce Pine, Virginia Pine, White Pine, Loblolly Pine, etc. Pine trees have needle like leaves and their bark is usually thick and scaly. This tree has been mentioned in Isaiah 41:19.
Cedar- Cedar is cited in 1 Kings 9:11 along with Fir tree. It is a coniferous tree that has many varieties and the common ones include Eastern Red Cedar and Japanese Cedar. They make ideal hedge plants and they can also be grown as specimen in the garden. They have dense foliage that traps snow well during winter months.
Willow- Willow trees are deciduous trees or shrubs that have many varieties. Some of them like Swamp Willow and Black Willow can tolerate moist and wet conditions so they can be grown in places that have drainage issues. The common willow varieties that are grown for ornamental purposes include Weeping Willow and Silky Willow. This tree has been recorded in Isaiah 44:4 in the Holy Bible.
Poplar- Poplar is another amazing tree which is relatively fast growing in nature. White Poplar, Lombardy Poplar, Tulip Poplar and Hybrid Poplar are some common varieties that can be grown in home gardens for shade and privacy.
Sycamore- Sycamore is a huge deciduous tree that matures pretty fast. Ficus sycomorus or the Sycamore fig tree has been recorded in Luke 19:4 in the Bible. American Sycamore is commonly used in home gardens for landscaping purposes. It can also be easily spotted on roadsides, parks and parking lots.
You can also grow Walnut, Apple, Palm, Cypress and Oak trees that have been referred in the Scriptures. All these are excellent trees for landscaping purposes and they can accentuate your home garden.
