Southern Yellow Pine, or Pinus Palustris, is best suited for climate zones seven through nine and can grow to be quite large. This tree will be anywhere from eighty to one hundred and twenty feet tall and will branch out as much as forty feet. It is quick growing and will grow as much as three feet in a single year. It will love soils that are clay or sandy in composition, but can adapt to others as well. It will need a full sun environment and is perfect for wind blocking and providing some extra shade in the landscape area.
