Is it the rainy season where you live? Are you sick of slugs? What can you do to get rid of them? Some folks spread coffee grounds around the plants they'd like to keep from being an around-the-clock, all-you-can-eat slug buffet. Others put saucers of beer in the garden as it draws the slugs who then can't escape. Or, maybe they're so drunk they don't want to? Either way, it might be worth a try.

If you have a small garden, you can also try growing your leaf lettuces or other favorite slug snack foods in containers kept up off the ground. This can sometimes deter them enough so that you get to your produce before they do. The wood from the American Beech tree is used to make barrels for aging beer. Look for it in our tree nursery.
