Aesculus Pavia – Red Buckeye
Aesculus pavia, also known as the Red Buckeye or the Firecracker Plant, is deciduous flowering plant. This small tree or shrub is native to the southeastern parts of the United States, found from Illinois to Virginia south to Florida. It is called by other names such as scarlet buckeye and woolly buckeye. It reaches a height of 16 to 26 feet, growing in multi-stemmed forms. Its leaves are composed usually of five elliptical leaflets, It bears clusters of attractive dark red tubular flowers in the spring.
