Plants By Type
Purple Hibiscus can be classified as either a tree or a shrub because of its size. It can be fifteen feet tall and six feet wide when planted in climate zones five through eight. Although it can tolerate many soils, it will thrive in those that are well drained but also moist. For best results, plant this in an area that receives full sunlight throughout the day. It will have large purple blooms that begin in the late spring and last through the summer. These blooms will attract birds, butterflies and bees to the area, which is always good for a garden.
