Possum Haw Seedlings are great to plant if you enjoy bringing wildlife to your landscape. These trees are the only species of holly that is native to the United States. It is known by its scientific name, Ilex Decidua and more common names such as deciduous holly, swamp holly and meadow holly. These trees grow best in, USDA climate zones 5 through 8 and can reach a height of up to 20 feet plus with a 15 foot or more canopy spread. They are very hardy and will do well in almost any soil condition as long as good drainage is provided. It does prefer full sunlight, but will also thrive in partial shade. It has beautiful white blossoms in the spring that are replaced with a berry. These berries will last most of the year and are a source of food for many varieties of wildlife.
