Ponderosa Pine Tree Seedlings will become wonderful trees to be used as a wind break as they mature. These trees are one of the most common pine trees in North America. They are also known by their scientific name of Pinus Ponderosa and more commonly as the bull pine, western yellow pine or blackjack pine. It is one of the larger pine tree species. These trees can reach heights of 100 feet or more and have a canopy spread of up to 30 feet when mature. They are also drought, disease and salt tolerant once established. They do best in climate zones 3 through 7. They will do well in a variety of soil conditions but do prefer moist soil with good drainage and full sunlight. These trees are low maintenance trees.
