Fresh fruits hanging from the trees are not only pleasing to the eyes but they also taste great. There are so many things that you can do with home grown fruits. You can make jams, jellies, marmalades and preserves. The fruits can also be used in desserts, cakes and gateau. Home grown fruits are ripened to perfection and are free from harmful chemicals. There is no greater pleasure than picking fresh and juicy fruit straight from the tree and eating it amidst plush greenery. Fruits have a high nutritional value and are great for your taste buds.

If you are planning to plant fruits for the first time in your garden then you can start with smaller plants that need comparatively less care as compared to other bigger varieties. Some of the common garden fruits are strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, grapes and cranberries. These berries look beautiful in the garden and also taste amazing. Sun- kissed berries can be preserved and gifted to friends and relatives on several occasions. Eating fruits regularly can provide health benefits and they minimize the risk of high blood pressure, heart problems and other chronic diseases.

It is important to first plan what you want to grow and then take necessary steps. Plants that grow and become bigger in size would require more space so you should plant them in a spacious area where they can spread and thrive. Apples, oranges, walnuts and peaches require more space. You can also plant seasonal fruits like melon, honeydew, kiwi and starfruit. The soil where you plan to grow fruits should be well drained so that over watering does not destroy the plants. The soil should be loamy with good circulation of air. There should be ample sunlight for the fruit bearing plants and trees so that there is less chance of them getting infected by insects and pests. Good amount of sunlight also ensures that the plants are more productive and yield good quality fruits.
