Musclewood Trees are often called American Hornbeam and is native Eastern North America.
Musclewood Trees are very common now because they have naturalized and there is a good chance that you will see one if you looked out of your window. they can grow from 25 to 35 feet in height and 25 to 35 feet in width also. The most noticeable thing that you could distinguish on this tree is the seed pods that tend to fall off in the fall people usually refer to them as ‘Helicopters’ because you can throw them up in the air and they will spin. This plant does prefer organically rich soils but will tolerate clay soils.It has no seriouse insect problems, however it does have problems with cankers and twig blight. It has a very nice shape to it and would do best in a shaded area.
