The Michigan Lily is a true lily, unlike many other so-called 'lilies'. It is native to North America, with native habitats including most of the eastern United States and Canada. In ideal conditions, it will grow to an impressive size, occasionally approaching 5 feet tall. This lily features a sturdy, waxy, circulation stem with regular branch clusters of neatly-shaped leaves. Choose your planting site with care, or they must be planted in a sizeable cluster: in some cases, when they do not have adequate support, these flowers are likely to lay over. They do a fantastic job of attracting hummingbirds, the colors of which often look dazzling against the Lily's red-orange flowers. Buyers should note that rodents and herbivores may consume young plants and bulbs, while deer are prone to earing mature plants.
