Did you know that in the 1800's people actually collected moss? It's true. There are 12,000 kinds, so apparently they had quite a few to choose from.

Back then, prized specimens of moss were kept in "mosseries" here in the U.S. and also in Great Britain. Next time you see it covering a statue or stepping stones in your garden, think about those amazing moss collectors of yesteryear. Walking Ferns love to grow in mossy areas.
