Act quickly if you notice little pear-shaped insects under the leaves of your garden plants, because it’s just a matter of time before your wonderful garden turns into a absolute wasteland. Aphids, also known as plant lice and greenflies, are tiny insects that suck the juices out of plants and trees. Not only do these little devils feed on your plants, they can also transfer viruses that distort their growth. Aphids come in various shades of red, green, black, yellow, and brown, and all of them breed fast. The quicker you do this, the better your garden will look. Here is some ideas on how to get rid of aphids. Also go a garden center to see if they can help you.

  1. Inspect your plants and trees frequently:A single aphid in your garden can produce as many as 80 offspring in a week and it can breed several times. Inspect .your plants as frequently as possible, and pay close attention to the underside of branches and leaves.
  2. Squish them: You can get rid of a few aphids simply by picking them off and squishing them. Be sure to wear gloves before squishing aphids because their juice might irritate your skin.
  3. Blast them with water: Aim the hose at affected plants and blast the critters away. Aphids that are dislodged don’t usually return to the same plant.
  4. Snip off colonies: Aphids can often be found in groups or colonies. Snip off parts of your plants that contain these colonies, and destroy all the aphids.
  5. Get rid of ants:Ants are natural allies of aphids. They love to feed on the honeydew or sugary sap that aphids generously secrete. They will defend them from predators and without ants aphids are a easy prey for predators.
