You've heard the saying, "It's not the heat, it's the humidity." You may have even said it yourself. But, what is humidity? Humidity is the level of water vapor in our air. At the highest levels of humidity we see rain, fog or dew.
But, why do we hate it so much? Well, for one thing, it makes sweating less effective. Why does that matter? Well, we sweat to cool our bodies off. So, when the humidity is high, you can sweat and sweat but still not feel cooler. So, yes, sometimes it's not the heat, it really IS the humidity! River birch trees enjoy a wet environment. Look for them in our tree nursery.
