The Advantages of Planting Perennials

Posted by Tammy Sons on

Perennials

It is not uncommon for shoppers to debate whether to plant annuals or perennials. Perennials are a wonderful choice because they can allow the landscape to have beautiful color that is not quite that same of that of the annual variety. The great thing is, these plants come back year after year and that can be a real cost savings. While they don’t have color that lasts all season long, they certainly can be paired with annuals for a stunning overall look. Perennial plants are an excellent choice to achieve the desired look in any yard.

In general, perennials require less work than the annual varieties. They come in amazing colors that draw attention to themselves primarily for their beauty. There are several varieties available and while they will be more of an investment in the beginning, they will outlast the annuals that only bloom for one season. The entire purpose of creating a landscape is to have the wow factor and perennials have the beauty to send any creation over the top.

Day Lilies

These plants can grow anywhere from one to four feet in height. They love partial shade and are great for areas that do not get a great deal of sunlight. They come in amazing pastel colors, like yellow and pink. Most people use these flowers, as they are considered the perfect plant. They get their name from their blooming pattern. The flower will open up and then close within the following 24 hours. They are perfect for a cut variety, as on a cut stem the flower will continue to open. They require very little care and can handle the rain and dreary conditions of some zones.
