It's nice to garden with our favorite plants. We know how much water they like and what degree of sun or shade. We may even have the timing of their flowers down for bouquets for the dining table. Sometimes, though, it's nice to add a little spice among your old favorites.
Try a few plants that are either new to you or have brighter or more dramatic colors or shapes than you might normally choose. You don't have to change your entire garden, that would be a bit much. Just add in one or two in amongst your old favorites to freshen things up a bit. If you've always been more of a pastel gardener, maybe consider trying red weigelia. It has dramatic, red bell-shaped flowers that can spice up a dull area. Look for it among our bare root plants.
