Black Walnut is a spectacular tree to plant in a larger landscape. It is well suited for climate growth zones three through eight and can be as tall as eighty feet and branch out as much as sixty feet. It will require a full sunlight portion of the landscape but can grow in just about any soil conditions. Its botanical name is Quercus Kelloggii. It has large oval green foliage and will sports clusters of flowers during the spring and summer months of the year. As the flowers fade, small fruits will appear that will become a food source for animals in the area.
