Biblical Plants For Your Garden

There are about a hundred plants, trees and crops mentioned in the Holy Bible. Some of them like Fig Tree, Olive, Pomegranate and Palm trees have been mentioned several times. Apart from these, there are many other plant varieties cited in the Holy Scriptures.

You can create your own biblical garden by growing some of these amazing plants and trees that date back to the early times. Most of the plants have become quite adaptable to the environment and they have evolved with many different varieties.

Some such plants that you can grow in your home garden are-

Lily Of the Valley- It is mentioned in the Song of Solomon 2:1. Lily of the Valley is a beautiful flowering plant that produces white colored flowers. It has tall and narrow leaves. The flowers are bell- shaped and have a pleasant fragrance. There are numerous varieties of Lily available in the market and you can choose the ones that best suit your zone.

Reed Grass- Tall reed grass has been mentioned in the Old Testament many times. It is most likely referred to the Giant Reed Grass, Common Red or the Pampas Grass. These grasses can be grown to add a vertical presence and movement to the garden. They sway in the slightest breeze and create a good effect in the landscape.

Myrtles- Myrtles are beautiful flowering shrubs that come in many varieties. Myrtle bears white, red, pink or lavender colored flowers. This flowering shrub has been mentioned in Nehemiah 8:15.

Crocus- Crocus is a small flowering plant that bears dainty and colorful flowers. This flower has been mentioned in Isaiah 35:1 and it can be grown in flower beds or as border plants.

Narcissus or Daffodil- This flower is mentioned in Matthew 6:29 where a comparison of King Solomon is made with the flower. It is a beautiful plant that bears very conspicuous flowers. It can be grown in the garden in clumps for a fabulous display of vibrant colors.

Hyacinth- Hyacinth belongs to the Lily family and it is a beautiful flowering plant. It is referred in the Song of Solomon 6:2-3. The flowers are fragrant ranging from violet, pink, blue, white, yellow to orange in color.

Iris- Iris comes in many varieties and it is considered to be one of the easiest perennial plants to grow. The flowers are very distinct and they can be a wonderful addition to your garden. This flower is said to be mentioned in Hosea 14:5.

Apart from these wonderful biblical plants, you can also consider growing Poppy, Cattail, Violet and Tulip that are referred in the Holy Bible.
